WORKBOAT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS. These eight similar but different applications for four clients provide full Captain's Log capability on board the boats, with satellite transmission of data to and from the shore office, guaranteeing timely log and billing information. Some of the capabilities included in these programs include logging and tracking of diesel fuel, unlimited types of lubricating oil, unlimited different types of tank cargo onboard, deck cargo, crew on board, vessel activities, GPS position log interfaces, watch logs, position reports, engine and generator mechanical logs, engineer's logs, many different safety reports and logs, weather logs, radio logs, maintenance logs, supplies and equipment requisitions, grocery orders, visitor logs, and inspection programs. The home office on shore can generate a full Captain's Log or any other report for any vessel in the fleet within a few minutes after the data transmission from that vessel.

Results: Before this program, the clients were having to wait as long as two weeks for the boats to return to port before getting their paper logs, then there was intensive manual labor to transcribe all data. This meant they frequently had more than one-month delays between doing the work and billing the customer. With this system, they have the data ready to use in billing the customer within 24 hours, and there are no transcription errors.
