TUGBOAT OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
SYSTEMS
Sample Set 2
|
 |
Tugboat Software Main Menu. This
menu provides one-click instant access to just about all the functions in
the program. Notice the cursor arrow over the "Tow Diagram"
button, and the text in the box under the buttons. This text changes
instantly, depending on cursor location, giving the users help on what
each button does. Also notice the text in the bottom box displaying the
boat's current activity and position. |
 |
Tow Diagram.
This screen provides a visual representation of all the barges in the tow.
On the boat, it defaults to the current tow, but any historical tow can be
viewed. On shore, you can view the tow configuration for any selected date
and time. Notice these features of this screen: You can have up to ten
normal barges or 31 lash barges fore to aft, and up to ten barges port to
starboard; the dimensions (L x W) of the tow are automatically calculated;
In the example, the barge #5008 is selected and its data is displayed; you
can move a barge to a different position in the tow, drop it off, and add
another, all from this screen. |
 |
Instant Activity Logging.
With this screen, all current data is entered as default data, so all you
have to enter is what's changed and click OK. This screen makes it
tremendously easy to enter boat activity data. |
 |
Boat Activity Log Summary.
On this screen, you can see a summary of all activities as logged on the
previous screen (Instant Activity Log). From here, you can edit any entry
by double-clicking on it, which will bring up a detail screen where you
can change any of the entered data. Data entered on the Instant Activity
Log screen (above) is displayed here, and also displayed on the Master's
Daily Vessel Log (below). |
 |
Daily Vessel Log.
This screen illustrates one of the many ways that all the data entered
into the program can be assembled into a Master's Log. We can design the
Master's Log display to conform to any existing format, or multiple
formats, if such is required by your accounting people and by your
customers. One of the powerful aspects of our vessel management programs
is that the Master's Log is displayed in the shore office exactly as it
appears on the boat, and can be printed from either location. |
 |
Vessel Supply Requisition.
This is the screen the boat crew uses to request parts, supplies, and
equipment. The information entered here is transmitted to the shore office
by satellite, where it is printed out automatically and sent to the
appropriate offices for confirmation and approval. Historical orders are
retained for accounting and analysis, as needed. |
 |
Vessel Inspection Checklist. This
screen illustrates a Pre-Sailing and Watch Change Inspection Checklist,
but we have used similar formats for several other checklists. The
checklist illustrated here is an implementation of a required paper-based
checklist, but much easier to fill out, transmit, and retrieve. |
 |
Boat Fuel Log. This
screen is where the boat crew logs all fuel transactions on or off the
boat. This form keeps a running total on board, provides for adjustments
when tanks are measured or filled, and allows changing the data until it
is transmitted to shore. The red "XMIT" at the right of some
records indicates those records have been sent to shore and cannot be
edited. |
