CONTRACT STATUS MANAGEMENT
DATABASE
|
 |
Contract Status Summary. This
screen is both a summary screen for all vessel contract data, and a
central point for editing that data. This program incorporates restricted
logins, and only allows editing data for those vessels assigned to the
area that has logged in. Users can see data on vessels from any area,
using the "Search the Database" capability, illustrated below.
From this form, users can enter new vessel contracts, edit existing
contracts, close contracts, and view or edit vessel contract status
history. Entering data into the database through this form eliminates
substantial hand-transcription of information, and also allows the
information to automatically feed a number of management reports. |
 |
Search The Database.
From this screen, the user can search the entire database for a particular
fit. In this example, the user wants to find a list of vessels that are
currently in Alaska, Brazil, Mexico, or the Middle East, vessels that will
be available for contract after 25 June 2001, and vessels that are less
than 3750 BHP and have a deadweight of between 2500 and 9000 pounds. The
results are printed on a report that can be viewed on screen or sent to
the printer. |
 |
Vessel List Screen.
This screen shows you all the boats in the fleet, and can be restricted to
show only those boats that are in service. Because this program is tightly
integrated with the Vessel Specifications program, vessels can only be
added to the list from that program. Depending on who has logged in to
this program, the user may also be able to assign vessels to a different
area from this screen. |
 |
Management Query Selector.
The Contract Database program provides a number of management queries,
five of which are illustrated on this selector. When one of the queries is
selected, the appropriate selector in the right pane is enabled, so you
can designate the parameters for each query. Notice the selected query is
for a list of vessels that have worked for a customer, and that the
customer Texaco has been selected from the dropdown list. |
 |
Sample Management Query Report.
This report is an example of one of the management reports available in
this program. Notice this is the report for Texaco as produced by the
selector form in the example above. Vessel names have been blurred for
privacy. |
 |
Weekly Utilization Report.
This example illustrates how a custom application can take standard-logged
data and integrate it into a time and labor saving management report. When
this report was produced by hand, it would require two to five hours at
each remote site, which would then fax the data to the home office. There,
the data was hand-transcribed into another program, and the figures were
manually figured on a calculator, requiring another 12 to 16 hours -- each
week! After this program was implemented, this report was produced
automatically each week from normally-logged data -- requiring about 15
seconds to calculate, plus the time to print the pages. The man hours
saved over one year in this effort alone more than paid for the cost of
the application. Sensitive information has been blurred for privacy. |
 |
Worldwide Utilization Summary
Report. This example illustrates the power of using computers
to compile information from relational databases. This report used to be
compiled monthly by hand, assembling data from the Weekly Utilization
Reports (above). This process required fifty to sixty man-hours each
month. After implementing the program, the users could compile this report
at any time they wished, not waiting for the end of the month, and it was
produced instantly from existing data, taking barely more time than that
needed to print the pages. Sensitive information has been blurred for
privacy. |
 |
INI File Data Editor.
INI files are small files kept on specific computers to record information
specific to the installation on that computer. This allows you to install
program upgrades without having to reconfigure the installation for each
computer. This INI file data editor screen allows you to easily edit the
installation configuration for any computer. |
